Oven Cleaning Tips & Tricks

While there are such things as self-cleaning ovens, they don’t always work efficiently and most of us don’t have one anyway. With that in mind, here are some handy tips for cleaning your oven quickly and easily.
Tips for Cleaning Your Oven
Clean any food stains off your oven immediately after it has cooled down a little, using a sponge and soapy water. As the oven walls are still hot, the stains will be removed easily.
Before cleaning old stains, heat up your oven to a high degree for around 20 minutes. As it cools, rub the dirt off with soapy water and a sponge.
Pour a little boiling water into the base of your oven. Allow the dirt to soften, then rub away with soapy water and a sponge.
If food stains are stubborn, cover them with a paste-like mixture of baking soda and water. Leave it on overnight and wash off with a sponge the following day. This is particularly useful for oven racks which are notoriously hard to clean.
Commercial oven cleaning products are generally not very eco-friendly and can give off toxic fumes, but there are some products out there that are kinder to you and the environment.
Ammonia – this potent chemical should be mixed with water 50/50 and placed in a container into the oven that has been preheated to around 200°C. Leave it for several hours before removing and cleaning dirt off with soapy water and a sponge.
Pour a little salt on the tough stains, wait a couple of minutes, then wipe away. This works well with recent greasy stains.
Embedded dirt can be scraped off an oven rack with a sturdy nail file. Rinse and wipe away with water and a soft sponge.
If you can’t do oven cleaning or do not have the time or inclination to attempt it yourself, employ the services of a UK Commercial Cleaning for the best results.
