The Importance of a Clean Kitchen

September 20, 2016 – by Tony Earnshaw

When catering is your business, it goes without saying that having a clean kitchen is imperative. Not only is it a legal requirement, but if you have customers on site in, for example, a cafe or restaurant, it will make a big difference to their decision-making if they can see a top hygiene rating displayed. Fail to keep on top of your cleanliness and you risk tarnishing your business reputation, and worse.

Positive Reputation

Word-of-mouth, or recommendation, is one of the best ways for a catering business to grow. People talk and tell their friends about their experience somewhere, and a delicious meal is not likely to be talked about as quickly as dirty cutlery or lipstick on a glass.

Health inspectors can visit more than once in any year, so thinking a reasonable inspection means you can let your standards slip is ill-advised. By maintaining impeccable standards at all times, you will be instilling good practices that will pay dividends for your business in the long term.

Correct Equipment

You would not consider using anything less than the best knives or pots for your catering, so you should not consider buying anything other than the top cleaning and sanitising products. In order to meet commercial standards of cleanliness, you will need to provide the top products to prevent build-up of bacteria. These might cost more than the versions readily available in the supermarkets, but in terms of value, it is worth getting the best to ensure your food is prepared in a truly clean kitchen and safe environment.

Be sure to get into all the nooks and crannies that might otherwise be the perfect place to harbour germs and bacteria. Kick start your clean kitchen and cleaning routines by using UK Commercial Cleaning and then maintain the good habits going forwards.
